If you have insurance, there should be a phone number for mental health/and or substance abuse service on either the front or back of your insurance card. In most cases, an authorization from your insurance company is necessary for coverage.
Unlike other referrals, in Massachusetts, you often do not need to get the referral through your primary care doctor; you can obtain the authorization yourself. We ask that you try to obtain the initial authorization yourself and further request for sessions are often obtained from the clinician. Each insurance company has it’s own set of procedures. Your clinician will be familiar with the process, so do not hesitate to ask. When obtaining an authorization, it is best to also check your “benefits” which include any deductibles or co-payment amounts.
Riverway Counseling Associates is affiliated with many insurance companies. Not every clinician takes each insurance so it is important to check with the individual therapist regarding the insurance coverage. The clinician may be listed with the insurance company under their individual name and/or the practice name, Riverway Counseling Associates. If you do not see a clinician listed with your insurance, please contact us for assistance.
For clients without insurance, please contact us for information on how to arrange a self-pay arrangement.
For billing questions you can contact your clinician or call Health Care Billing Service at 781-784-4123 and ask for Carol.
